NOVARA

A website that lets architecture speak in sequence.

WebsiteUX/UIDesign system
01

Context

NOVARA is an architecture practice whose work spans housing, public space and adaptive reuse.

02

Challenge

Its old site was a gallery of finished photographs. Prospective clients saw beautiful buildings but none of the reasoning that produced them.

03

Thinking

Architects explain projects as sequences: site, constraint, response. The website should read the same way, so visitors understand the decisions and not only the result.

04

Direction

Design project pages as editorial narratives, moving from context to drawing to built form, supported by a strict grid that echoes the practice's plans.

05

Making

We delivered the information architecture, UX, visual design and a component-based design system, built for fast loading and accessible navigation.

06

System

A shared grid governs typography, drawings and photography, so new projects can be published by the studio team without breaking the editorial rhythm.

07

Outcome

The practice now publishes projects in-house, and new client conversations start from the reasoning presented on the site rather than from a portfolio PDF.

08

Reflection

Structure is a form of storytelling. The grid did more to communicate the practice's values than any written statement.
